This year’s joint conference features four Major Networking Events open to all attendees who have purchased a four-day registration badge or a guest badge!
OPENING NIGHT NETWORKING EVENT – SUNDAY, SEPT 29, 7-10 p.m.
At this conference kickoff event on Sunday evening, you’ll be able to make your first networking contacts even before the first sessions on Monday morning! We’ll welcome you to Reno and the first-ever joint conference of The Wildlife Society and American Fisheries Society with a bang. Be sure to attend and start your week off on the right foot with all the folks you’ll be sharing your conference experience with!
TRADE SHOW & POSTER NETWORKING EVENT – MONDAY, SEPT 30, 5:30-7:30 p.m.
Close out your first day of session-hopping in our Member Activity Center, located in Hall 2, where we invite you to mingle with poster presenters and exhibitors alike! This is a great opportunity to unwind after a long day, while still networking with peers and engaging with exhibitors who represent the many facets of our industry!
STUDENT–PROFESSIONAL NETWORKING EVENT – TUESDAY, OCT 1, 7:30-10 p.m.
Both professional and student attendees are encouraged to attend this networking mixer, designed to connect natural resource students with mentors and potential employers, and vice versa. AFS President Jesse Trushenski and TWS President Darren Miller will kick off the event with their professional words of wisdom and encouragement. Then students and professionals will have an opportunity to socialize and exchange questions, advice, and insight on professional paths. Professional attendees will represent universities, agencies, NGOs, consulting firms and other organizations, and will present students with an opportunity to engage and ask important questions. This is one of the premier networking events at the conference, so don’t miss out!
ASSOCIATED NETWORKING EVENTS/RECEPTIONS – WEDNESDAY, OCT 2, 7:30-9:30 p.m.
Haven’t seen your grad school friends in a while? Looking to catch up with former agency colleagues? Whether reconnecting or finding new and exciting groups to network with, this night of associated receptions includes something for everyone. We expect dozens of alumni groups, AFS and TWS organizational units, federal and state agencies and more to host receptions on this night. And if you’re shy, don’t worry; you can enjoy a beverage poolside at the Peppermill, just outside the receptions area, in our non-affiliated networking space!
